Webster Szanyi LLP is pleased to announce that Heather Dechert has joined the firm as an associate in the Litigation Department. Heather has experience practicing in a range of civil litigation matters, with a focus on labor and employment. Heather previously worked at Jones Day in Cleveland where she represented and counseled management clients on a wide range of labor and employment matters, including issues arising under the Fair Labor Standards Act, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, and the Family and Medical Leave Act, as well as other federal and state employment-related laws and workplace considerations regarding privacy and the use of social media. She also has experience defending employers in collective wage and hour litigation and counseling employers regarding wage and hour compliance.
Heather attended the University at Buffalo Law School where she served as Business Editor for the Law Review and worked as a teaching assistant to professor Nan Haynes, Research and Writing Professor. She also spent a summer working as a volunteer law clerk for the Honorable Judge William Skretny, United States District Judge for the Western District of New York.
